How to Prepare for SSC – 7 Strategies for Beginners 

You are here to know how to get started for SSC. But before I list down the best practices, let us first understand about the format and syllabus of the SSC Examination.

SSC or Staff Selection Commission examination is one of the most sought – after exams for the students who are aspiring to become part of India’s biggest organization – The Government of India. One can join various ministries or specialized agencies under this organizations.

This particular examination has a 4 tier system namely:

Tier 1 Exam comprises of 

• General Intelligence & Reasoning
• General Awareness
• Quantitative Aptitude
• English Comprehension

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Tier-1 exam is a common and compulsory exam for each of the posts. The Tier-1 exam is qualifying in nature and will be conducted for a total of 200 marks. Candidates will be required to answer 25 questions from each of the 4 sections of the exam pattern over a duration of 1 hour. Each question will carry 2 marks. There will also be a negative marking penalty of ½ marks for each wrong answer. The following is a detailed breakdown of the subject sections in the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam –

Moving on to the focus of this blog, let us now help you understand the 8 steps that you must follow to crack this exam like a PRO :). 

1. Current Affairs Is Easy : A Myth
   We have heard a number of times that the current affairs section is often not considered and even if asked it is super easy.
   Don’t get carried away and instead focus on knowing all about current affairs. Section wise cut-offs are important to plan for it. Always solve past years questions as well to remain abreast of the earlier style of questions.
   
2. Have a concrete 6-month plan
   You should make a 6-month plan for the examinations and follow it diligently. If you are looking to clear the SSC CGL examinations then plan for 6 months as per the first two examination patterns. Focus on the last once in a week for the first 3 months respectively. This will help you create a belief and momentum for this evaluation.
   
3. Join  a coaching classes with a solid reputation

4. Focus on General Studies along with Current Affairs
   These 2 are the main and veritably important topics of SSC CGL examinations.
   It’s veritably important to have complete and proper knowledge about Current Affairs and General Studies fully. Learn from the best sources as per the guidance you receive from the counsellor and get the learnings which you can remember.
5. Evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and work on them
   It is very important for you to work on your weaknesses and make sure that you make them your strengths soon. Get this evaluation done via mock tests and per learnings. Make sure to work on your strengths every single day while fixing your weaknesses as well. Define your short goals and focus on achieving them.
     
6. Work on a few speed structure exercises
   The veritably first thing that comes to our mind when we want to work on adding our speed is‘ Exercise‘. So an important suggestion is to have practice, practice and practice. Speed matters the most here.  Knowing the question pattern and paper pattern can help you save many first times during the exam.
   
7. Keep solving Mock tests after 2 months of practice
   Mock tests play an essential part in one’s best performance, especially in SSC Examinations. Through mock tests, campaigners can start estimating themselves on where they stand early. Once identified they will work on their focus areas and improvise as per the exam pattern.
